about the photographer / artist

As a teenager I became mesmerized with the beauty of life around me. I began taking pictures with my first 110 mm film camera when I was just 12 years old. Then eventually I got a 35mm film camera. I spent a lot of time experimenting with imagery and angles and fell in love with black and whites. I grew up in Florida where everything is colorful and dramatic so to switch it up to black and white challenged me. Back then I had to wait for images to be developed and go pick them up. It was like Christmas every single time. When digital cameras came out the experimentation wasn't necessarily far reaching for me. What I found myself engaging in was the subjects more intimately. I really wanted to take the shot in raw as is was no editing, no overly grotesque adjustments just fine tuning of what was right in front of me and nothing more. I still have that raw unfiltered edge to my images today.  My images are more refined these days but more so to really give you what was in that moment true. Images should provoke you, transform you, take you there, make you feel something you otherwise did not. What better way to experience life than through a lens.
